Sorrento Events This October: Oktoberfest, Masquerade Dancing, and More
Fall has arrived, and along with the changing colours and colder weather, Sorrento is celebrating the season with several October events. We’re holding an Oktoberfest celebration, an Autumn Market, and much more. Here’s the full list of October events at Sorrento Retirement Residence.
All events are free for residents and are just $5 for guests, unless noted otherwise.
Oktoberfest is the world’s largest beer and folk festival that takes place every fall in Munich, Germany. The festival celebrates the coming of autumn with German beer, traditional dancing, and German foods like pretzels and sausages.
This Friday, Sorrento is hosting our own Oktoberfest celebration. We’ll enjoy an afternoon of German-inspired food and drinks, along with entertainment enjoyed with friends and family.
On October 9, Sorrento will be hosting our Autumn Market. The market features a selection of seasonal goods from local vendors, including freshly baked treats, hand-crafted seasonal décor, and fall floral arrangements. It’s the perfect way to add seasonal flair to your home for Thanksgiving weekend.
Every month, Sorrento features Port of Call, an event inspired by the food and culture of a country from around the world. This month, we’ll be celebrating Switzerland by trying Swiss cheeses and satisfying our sweet tooth with chocolate fondue. The event will also feature Swiss-inspired activities and entertainment, including a VIP visit from Bacio, a Bernese Mountain Dog from Switzerland.
This month, Sorrento is hosting Sorrento Celebrates Culture Day, where attendees will enjoy a paint and sip event. Residents will explore the art displayed throughout Sorrento while enjoying a glass of wine. They’ll channel their inner art critic as they learn about the history and meaning of each piece.
Every year, Sorrento hosts its Masquerade Ball to celebrate Halloween and the end of October. Residents are welcome to wear masks, costumes, and seasonal wear as they enjoy entertainment, wine, dessert, and a festive night of celebration.
